TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Jan 21 Intrusive Thoughts is an exhausting watch that never finds its footing. From the opening moments, the film feels dull and directionless, struggling to generate any real intrigue or emotional pull. Despite centering on filmmakers and creative ambition, it ironically lacks creativity, tension, or momentum. The story follows a struggling filmmaker, his ex-girlfriend, and an uncomfortable subplot involving his therapist, but none of these threads ever come together in a meaningful way. What should feel psychological instead comes off flat and underdeveloped, as if the film knows what it wants to suggest but has no idea how to explore it. Performances do little to elevate the material, and even moments meant to feel provocative fall completely short. Direction is inconsistent and unfocused, leaving the entire film feeling lost in its own ideas. Intrusive Thoughts is a chore to sit through, offering little payoff or engagement.
