Tries to present itself as a comedy with some elements of satire, but it's a complete misfire dragged down by a strange blend of Grindhouse cinema that takes itself too seriously.

Iron Sky really could have been something if only someone had written a decent script.

It's just not smart enough to truly work.

The performances are fine and the film, mainly shot in the studios on the Gold Coast, looks terrific most of the time; it's the script that needed more oomph.

It's an ancestor to the Mel Brooks genre spoof movies and even (in it's own cheap, camp, determinedly silly way) the black, politically charged satire of Dr. Strangelove.

'Iron Sky' just proves that even the dumbest idea needs a smart mind behind it.
