J D @RT37878333 6d A low budget affair but Roddy keeps it interesting. The concept is not bad, they just didn’t have the budget to do it justice. Still, for this genre it’s not bad. It does hold your interest as you watch a man who controls the most powerful weapon on earth slowly slipping into madness. Shades of Homelander from The Boys. You do wonder what will he do next. The atomic bomb scene at the climax is unintentionally funny, but, hey, the movie was made on a budget comparable to a weeks groceries. See more dave s @RT68722908 11/01/2022 When Arthur Pimm (Roddy McDowall), a disgruntled assistant curator at a museum, figures out how to bring an ancient golem to life, mayhem soon follows. Well, it's not really mayhem because golems are traditionally slow moving, but bad things certainly start to happen. It! may be one of the most benign horror movies ever made, never even coming close to eliciting a shudder or a scare. It does create a few unintentional laughs, however, most notably when the military tries to blow it up with a nuclear warhead (always ill-advised), only to watch the golem saunter off into the ocean. On the bright side, McDowall seems to be having fun throughout. The audience? Not so much. See more 11/07/2016 This one is worth seeing if only for McDowall's sterling performance. During the 60's and 70's he had a corner on the market of the crazy you could love. Perkins was always just a bit to white bread, whereas McDowall was full blooded and had a streak of pathos.
