Audience Reviews for Je te mangerais (You Will Be Mine)
You'd think that a film this trashy and blitheringly idiotic would at least be able to provide some campy entertainment. However, French thriller You Will Be Mine puts the final nail in it's coffin by being very tedious as well as completely stupid. You Will Be Mine is a potboiler about two female college students sharing an apartment together, and one of them develops an unhealthy obsession with the other. The problems with the film are several. None of the characters in the film resemble intelligent human beings. The protagonist especially makes a series of stupid decisions; I eventually lost all sympathy and patience for this idiot. The antagonist's psychological characteristics are contrived, unconvincing, and frustratingly juvenile. All this makes a film that the audience cannot possibly take serious in any way. But the film takes itself seriously. Very, very seriously. The film moves at a slow leisurely pace that better and more intelligent films have used to slowly build up tension and atmosphere. In You Will Be Mine, it just makes the film unbearably dull. You Will Be Mine is a pretentious, uninspired, dull film that provides nothing new for it's familiar premise.
If the subject is pianists, women, desire, passion and madness, I choose (and recommend) La tourneuse de pages aka The Page Turner.
