such a good wartime drama. robert young is good as always. he was always a underrated actor. he has great chemistry with not only the female lead in this movie but also the kid actor/actress. he is so sweet toward the boy and girl. margaret o'brien plays the little girl perfectly. she was such a cute good child actress that knew her lines down pat. my fave movies are when she works with robert young. she didn't do many with him but when she did they were great together.

Plot synopsis is not quite accurate. It's actually just Robert Young's character that visits the orphanage to do a story for his newspaper. The children claim him as their own ("He's MY Mr. Davis") and he unexpectedly falls in love with them. He writes to his wife living back in the US about the children and eventually brings them home with him. The children are adorable and good little actors!
