Lighthearted romp boasts good cast and playful tone. Manages to charm despite lack of plot.

A not so funny comedy with strong cast; Elizabeth Taylor, Greer Garson, Wilter Pidgeon and Peter Lawford.
Greer Garson plays a "oh soooo crazy" and "oh sooo funny" dancehall actress and mother named Julia, who's daughter Susan (Elizabeth Taylor) is about to get married.
Julia hasn't met her daughter or husband for some reason or other, for many years and gets all "gidderish" when she is going to meet them after all these years.

Though I have to admit that Greer Garson is a very good actress, despite mostly choosing very very dull roles, and this gets a little bit dull as well since it's supposed to be a comedy but Greer Garson alone isn't funny enough.
More interesting for the incredibly chic clothes the female characters are wearing, then the plot itself.

Fun, but not their best. Still has many fun moments and it's good to see Walter and Greer feud once in a while.

An adorable little flick starring Greer Garson as a mother, who because of her career was unable to be there for her daughter. Greer's character receives an invitation to her daughter's(played by Elizabeth Taylor) wedding. Ecstatic to finally see her daughter after such a long time, Julia goes.

Greer plays a completely different character from her usual parts. She plays a woman, who is quite outgoing and seems to love to take a risk, once and while. She was quite funny in the film, as well, as Walter, who I didn't think would be at all.

Elizabeth and Peter Lawford play off each other so well and their chemistry is undeniably adorable. Walter and Greer are just plain fun to watch. This was their 5th movie together.

It isn't a film for everyone but still quite fun to watch.

Very cute. It's probably one of my favorite Garson movies.

A DISSAPPOINTMENT, CONSIDERING THE CAST. GREER GARSON JUST DOESN'T SEEM TO BE INTO THE ROLE. THE FILM SUFFERS FROM ADEQUATE WRITING, AND THE CAST JUST DOES NOT CREATE ANY SPARKS.. STILL WORTH SEEING THOUGH.
