Seeking Justice is like mediocre pizza; It won't change the world but it should satisfy those hungry for a well-made, generic meal.

As far as a Cage film goes, Seeking Justice is better than the last couple major theatrical releases that have hit the screens.

Despite growing increasingly preposterous as the minutes tick by, Roger Donaldson's Seeking Justice is still at the high-end of star Nicholas Cage's recent output.

Nicolas Cage plays the regular man protagonist with surprising ease, dialing down the nutty affectations and keeping you engaged.

An enjoyably loopy genre exercise. Connoisseurs of the Nic will need no further recommendation.

It's a perfectly palatable and even engaging thriller, albeit one requiring several leaps of faith and/or disengagement with reality.

It's refreshing to see Nicolas Cage, non-histrionic and sort of subtle, in a halfway clever piece of indie pulp about a teacher who enlists a cult of vigilantes to kill the man who raped his wife.

It's a crime thriller starring Nicolas Cage, but it's not as bad as that phrase implies.

There's plenty to enjoy in this old-fashioned exploitation movie.

What holds "Seeking Justice" together is the skill with which director Roger Donaldson ramps up the tension as Cage gets into deeper and deeper trouble.

Seeking Justice is an intense thriller so full of shocks it keeps you wired from start to finish.

Working with a pip of a premise, Seeking Justice is the kind of effective middle-range pulp thriller that has lately become an endangered species.

Guy Pearce in a great Charles Bronson imitation in this revenge fantasy.

Cage's Faustian bargain with devils in his midst elicits some worst instincts. Rather than say biding time until revenge is more sensibly a dish best served cold. Which feels like a freaky futuristic urban fairy tale, and as familiar as the evening news.

Donaldson's skilful at orchestrating the action sequences, and there are two plot twists that should take you by surprise. At least you won't be bored.

Donaldson maintains a lively pace, although the story doesn't bear too close an examination for fear of being engulfed by its own plot holes.

It works well enough, and at the end the makers know that their film invites the audience to have its irony rations and eat them.

Donaldson keeps things tense, pacey and plausible but the inventiveness of the screenplay gives way to a dissatisfying, rather formulaic third act.

While Justice is a relatively predictable thriller with the 1996 Oscar-winning Cage scarcely stretching himself, it also happens to pose above-average moral questions.

...a hopelessly uneven thriller that just isn't able to live up to its seemingly can't-miss premise...
