Older audiences may be required to get back in touch with their adolescent appetites for garish decor.

Kamikaze Girls, while being a silly, freewheeling, candy-colored lollapalooza, is also a heartfelt tale of friendship.

Kamikaze Girls has a glazed, comic-book look and absurd tone that is initially enjoyable but proves wearing.

As exciting for its beautifully specific and honest portrayal of teenage girls and their friendships as it is for its dazzling visual and narrative style.

Oct 03, 2015Kamikaze Girls is a zany and silly comedy that works mainly on account of the dynamic between the two female leads. The film is different, refreshing, and worth a view.Robert B Super Reviewer

Sep 11, 2010movie initially struck me as Monty Python meets Harold and Maude. A lot of references are thrown towards Japanese Thelma and Louise, but that way off course. The tow leads in the movie are more similar than they are different. They have both broken in a direction opposite of there upbringing in order to form a stable platform for their existence. Monoko, the highly intelligent daughter of a failed yakuza who is settled into his semi-successful life selling sic Vesachi knock-off tee-shirts and bags on the streets of there backwoods Japanese villiage. She breaks from her tough and dysfunctional life into 1800 French apparel Rococo. In contrast is Ichigo, a dullard raised in a middle class family who broke from her traditions to become a tough, spitting and fighting biker girl chick. Ichigo meets Monoko after her father is kicked out of the market for copy write issues and Monoko must pay for her jones to purchased the latest in clothes. She offers her fathers clothes on the internet. The appeal for Ichigo, to hand around Monoko is at first kind of puzzling and in the end kind of less than satisfying. If the last third of the movie was extrodinary as the first two third this would make a 4.5+ star movie. The opening exposition is extrodinary with animated sequences and interesting camera work.Bill C Super Reviewer

Jul 28, 2010the two performances are decent enough and tell the story well enough, there are also colourful moments throughout, with loads of energy in its aproach, some japanes humour as is always the case missing the mark, but fun throughout, if nothing memorablescott g Super Reviewer

Apr 08, 2010Giggly girly teen film with two Japanese pop stars leads... ugh. More fool me. This took me completely by surprise. Witty quirky funny imaginative smile on the face from the very first minute. It does go a bit girl power in the last ten minutes but that's completely forgiven set against the charms of the previous ninety. Top entertainment, brilliant. .Lesley N Super Reviewer
