This is a modest little Japanese Rom-Com. It's not laugh-out-loud funny, more of an occasional chuckle funny. A suicidal actor changes identity with a successful hit-man. The hit-man has amnesia after a bathhouse fall. The hit-man comes into the sights of an attractive young woman. She is planning her wedding. All she needs is a husband candidate. The three characters meet on various occasions; and complications ensue. The Japanese take on the Rom-Com genre was interesting. The movie was mildly entertaining. There are some successful plot twists. It is a cute story. It was an OK trip to the flics.
This review is gonna be kept short and sweet. This is a pretty good movie all things considered. It feels too long for its own good though. If you made this movie 105 minutes instead of a little over 2 hours, I can guarantee you'd have a much better movie. Regardless, this film is made entertaining by a talented cast and it makes the length that much tolerable. The characters were funny and interesting but they weren't exactly complex...even if the movie does try to give them a little depth, it doesn't always work necessarily. Still this is a good movie and the switch between Kondo and Sakurai lead to some funny moments and developments. This is a good Netflix watch, nothing more nothing less.
Funny, violent, well-realized "trading places" story in which both parties may learn to live better and be happier. Some clever turns and fun characters.
