Audience Reviews for King Kong: Peter Jackson's Production Diaries

Some interesting behind the scenes footage, but nothing much else. It was just a way to get anticipation for the movie. However, it just seemed like overkill with over four hours of production diaries. I also cannot believe this has almost no structure to it, everything is scattered.

[img][/img]Now here's something interesting from cinema pioneer Peter Jackson, a DVD release of special features before the film came out. The King Kong Production Diaries were a series of short documentaries that played on the web site during the filming of the movie. On this DVD, the 5-minute shorts play in sequence and give great and often funny incite into the making of King Kong. Actor's Jack Black and Andy Serkis have a blast hamming it up to the camera. In one diary, Jack gets upset because his height has been misrepresented on the KongisKing website. He then proceeds to tell Peter Jackson that wearing a male version of high heels in right for his character. The DVD is like film school in a box, every aspect of the production is covered here. Even the lighting continuity guy has his moment to shine. Now we all know that this will not be the only King Kong DVD released. I'm sure an extended edition will be coming soon with all kinds of special features for the geek in all of us (remember The Lord of the Rings). This DVD proves Peter Jackson is the king of special features and if you want to know about epic filmmaking, he is your man.

i like my movies with plenty of makeing ofs, but a makeing of when the movie is still in theaters? Genious. I really enjoyed Kong and wanted to see how they mde it so I bought this, it was worth the price tag. There are some really funny segments with Jack Black doing some really comical things, my favorite segment involves a bunch of photos being bootlegged off the movie set. This collection is for people who like to see a behind the scenes and how the effects were made. This is a must for fans of the new Kong movie and who want to see how the special effects team worked their wonders.
