Dark tale about the forgotten Irish who didn't find their fortunes across the water.

The story was the main character in this one.. although all in irish, yet very touching and tells the tale of a group of friends who took a risk to find a better life, but eventually losing the one that they had.. some made it and some still struggle. but even at tragadies, all come together.. the film discusses the life of a immigrant in a foreign country from the irish perspective but the concept is true for everyone.. you dont have a home here and dont have a home there anymore.. great performances and great visual style..

Makes a welcome change from the recent spate of centre-right Celtic Tiger idolising "we've never had it so good" nonsense. Unfortunately, for the men of McAlpine's Fusiliers etc, the only roar is one of heartbreak and abject misery.

An Irish version of a Loach or Cassavetes film that fails to transcend its narrow scope, Kings will appeal to Irish speakers, and to those who lived the emigrant experience of 20 to 40 years ago.

This is the movie for everyone who ever felt dispossed.

UK Premiere no less, proper red carpet affair at the Hyde Park. Was pretty good though, not exactly cheery, but very engaging. Not a massive advertisement for the benefits of booze like.

Saw this at the film festival, sooo good. hard in the beginning to keep track of everything because the movie is in Gaellic, not english but awesome

Not exactly the cheeriest of films but strong, well dipicted take on Irish emmigrants to London in the 70s, the harshness of their existance and their sense removal from Ireland.

Tough ,tough stuff. Someone removed the filter on this film and we got some really stark content.

Really liked it even though nearly everything was in Irish!! Got to check up the few Irish I have! lol No good film on Irish immigration and its consequences on the immigrants...

The story of Irish blokes on building sites in London- a bi-lingual (english-irish) movie of the harshness of the ordeal and the ability of the human spirit to rise above it. Ireland doesn't want to remember this era, which is a happy coincidence when you consider that there was no money left to market it!

Oh my god, so boring it's unbelievable!

This is a great movie about men who are dispossed and who struggle with their love of Ireland and their life in England.

On the verge of being a dodgy sterotypical portrayal of the Irish before being redeemed by some great characterisation in the 2nd half. Mostly well acted.
