Cikitta T @RT18553906 May 8 Actually watched a recap before the film, so my perspective might differ from a normal viewer. At first, I thought that the lore would be boring because the plot feels scattered and there isn’t much character development, though that’s understandable since it’s based on a "real" event. After watching the actual film, though, I think it’s pretty solid. The strongest part is how immersive and culturally authentic the world feels, especially its Javanese atmosphere and local beliefs about behavior, abstinence, and respect. The lore itself is interesting too: a hidden forest village tied to supernatural beings, ruled by Badarawuhi, who seeks a successor. The biggest issue is the film's presentation. Some lore details are vague, especially if you’re unfamiliar with Indonesian/Javanese culture (like me..lol). The film also throws many layers of conflict at once, which can feel overwhelming.
