Run of the mill story, lots of fighting.

Sure the plot is predictable and cliche but the action sequences are stunning. They are the best aspects of the film and each fight is fantastically choreographed, especially the final showdown. Donnie Yen is good (as usual) but I can't un-see him as Ip man- both roles are similar (martial arts masters). However, Kung Fu Killer is not up to the quality of Ip Man. Overall this is a decent popcorn flick, with stunning fight scenes. 6.5/10

Sure, the plot is very silly and ridiculously unrealistic, but you don't watch a martial arts film because you're looking to see it win an Oscar. No, you watch it because you want to see action-packed, fantastically choreographed, fast-paced fight scenes, and Donnie Yen doesn't disappoint with 'Kung Fu Killer'. The only thing I could say is that a little less wire-work (i.e. none at all, or at least none that's noticeable) would have been nice, but that really is just a personal preference and considering they kept it to a relative minimum, it's not too distracting making the film an entertaining watch.

Even if the story could go as generic as expected, the great action sequences and kung fu combats deliver in a highly entertaining dose, always keeping its tone and premise in a decent level, but benefit from Donnie Yen's enjoyable presence and amazing skills, almost compensating the film's lack of character development, but never distracting the viewer outside its action, becoming an overall decent action flick that fans of the genre will enjoy.

An entertaining Hong Kong actioner with a wafer-thin storyline and some ol' school set-pieces. Donnie Yen and Wang Baoqiang impress with fast-paced stunt choreography.
