Movie Info

This situation comedy finds a club owner leaving for the country with one of his strippers. They go fishing at a secluded spot where the man uses a homemade device that electrocutes the fish. Unfortunately, their idyllic and bucolic splendor is interrupted by another couple upstream who uses explosives to catch fish. The two couples confront one another only to discover the two women know one another. After engaging in a car chase through the cornfields, each man talks his girl into slicing the tires of the opposing driver. They all eventually congregate at a poker game where three men who have followed both couples take the money from the game. The couples subdue the robbers and join the card game in this offbeat tale of a day in the country.

Audience Reviews for La Tregua (The Truce)

When a middle aged petit bourgeois longs for love to come into his lonely and mournful existence, he has the luck of savor it as a fresh breath of air, but soon realizes about the cruel destiny that awaits for all of his kind. Hector Alterio's face in the very first shot already warns us that his life is condemned to be cyclic, to repeat itself, he has a life sentence of fate and social conventions. His performance is quiet, taciturn at first, but by the end his grief is so strong that engulfs the screen in agony.
