Some bad movies are simply bad because of incompetence or miscalculation; here is one that begins with the distinction of confusion and follows through with it until the last befuddling frame.
Audience Reviews for Lambada
★1/2 (out of four) Look what "Dirty Dancing" and the Latin dance crazes of the late 1980's started! There was a film called "Salsa" and then this annoyance. I won't say that the people involved can't dance, because they can, but they sure can't act. Kevin Laird (J. Eddie Peck) is a boring Beverly Hills High School math teacher. But at night he discos down to No Man's Land, a dance hall in a rough area of town. There he cuts loose doing the forbidden dance! It's forbidden because it is just too damn sexy to be allowed in most places. After he shakes his groove thing, he brings people of the community into the backroom and helps them get their GED's. One night one of his students named Sandy (Melora Hardin) sees him at the club, boogieing until he just can't boogie no more. She instantly falls for the mathematical maestro, but things get hot for the teacher when his school learns of his late night activities. Need I say more? J. Eddie Peck is a high school Math teacher at a Beverly Hills school by day and a lambada dancer by night. He gets involved with some under-privileged kids and gives them lessons on how to do the Lambada--a hot new Latin dance! Not as good as "Footloose" or "Dirty Dancing" but the dance scenes are exciting and provocative.
I forgotten how cheesy this early 90's movie was, but can't help but to watch again.
