One of the things the movie gets especially right is the way in which teenagers are so desperate for grown-up experiences, but their emotions are too volatile to process them.
For the majority of its running time, this plays like a typical R-rated comedy of the period -- plenty of nudity in the service of plenty of ribald situations -- but it unexpectedly turns serious during its second half, and the finale is devastating.
A barely tolerable raunchy formulaic teen comedy that turns unfashionably serious with a realistic downbeat ending.
A not-so-great movie with a great ending
One of the first "teen" films of the 80's and one of the best.
Surprise: It's a soppy tearjerker, not a hot sex farce
Ridiculous yet irrepressibly fun
A typically crude teen sex comedy that surprises with a downbeat and honest conclusion...
When I first saw this movie, I didn't get to watch the whole thing, but I right away thought it was just another stupid raunch-fest. Now that I've watched the entire film, I can see that that is only one part of this film. But I also saw that the plot mirrors that of Fast Times at Ridgemont High, except for the twist ending. And yes, it is a very surprising, thought provoking end for a teen comedy. I didn't know what to make of it at first, but I wont discuss it further or give it away. This movie really is very truthful to the lives of real teenagers while also being an entertaining comedy, which is kind of a hard thing to balance. Overall it's pretty good, and the more I think about it, the more I kinda like it, and I wouldn't mind seeing it again.
A good & funny 80s teen comedy. It also shows the pain of adolescence & that life is not always what you expect it to be like.
I found this one an uneasy sit-through. Not because it's terrible, per se, but more of the subject at hand.
An 80s classic, with great tunes and plentiful nudity, plus the most jaw droppingly evil ending to a T&A flick ever.
