Audience Reviews for An Impudent Girl (L'Effrontée)

(** 1/2): This film came out in France in 1985. It is a coming-of-age story that just doesn't quite work. The main character is a little too naive and it tries to hard to be funny (but, I will say that I never expected Charlotte Gainsbourg to say the line, "Your p***y stinks").

I watch all types of movies for the entertainment value. However most teen movies do not entertain. Maybe I'm just too old to think so...however L'effrontee with Charlotte Gainsbourg confirmed my suspicion. That she is an excellant actress! I first saw her in another French movie at closer to her current age. In L'effrontee she is about 14 and plays her part as if she wasn't acting at all. I think the actress is very much like Shirley Temple though for this era. She plays the part of a frustrated teen, not happy with anything such as family, school, friends or lack of, and life in her town. She finds hope of something different in a fifteen year old pianist whom she idolizes. The pianist happens to come to her small town and thats where the movie really gets going. Great movie for family members from 13 to adult.
