The Legend of Zorro is a campier sequel, occasionally given too much to childish antics. But once the story really kicks in, it transforms into a fine adventure film and a worthy addition to the Zorro film legacy.

Reasonably rousing, breezily hokey, and touchingly retrograde

Nope, it's not as good as the first one. But considering how chintzy and auto-piloty most sequels are these days, I'll take what I can get.

Antonio Banderas is (whisper it) getting a little to old to be swashbuckling these days, but he still puts in a committed performance.

Blocky plot turns and historical inaccuracies occasionally distract, but overall there are barrels of delicious swordplay, some particularly jaw dropping equestrian stunts, along with Banderas' winking wit, and Zeta-Jones smoldering confidence.

Yes, "The Legend of a Zorro" is a cartoon, with bad guys that are oh-so-bad and heroes who are larger than life.

It's not a perfect movie historically but it is pure fun from beginning to end.

Energetic, star- and stunt-powered entertainment.

Zorro is misnamed, since it's less about the legend than what happens when the legend goes home and gets yelled at by his wife.

No, the tongues aren't quite as firmly in cheek, the one-liners aren't as crisp, and the action flags more times than it should. But this Zorro does nothing to tarnish the Legend.

A dandy-looking adventure flick that embraces all demographics with only a few missteps could lure the public back to the 'plexes.

Z still marks the spot ... [in] another heaping helping of swashbuckling, popcorn-crunching fun.

The Legend of Zorro is fun all right, but it is a comedown from the excellent Mask of Zorro.

It is good fun, but not great fun, and it's much longer than it ought to be.

Banderas and Zeta-Jones are strong. The writer's and director's grasp of American History is weak. Yet, I found myself yelling, "long live The Legend of Zorro!"

Arrives with its fair share of violence and probably more individual deaths by explosion than listed on Wile E. Coyote's HMO chart.

...two terrific bad guys. Banderas and Zeta-Jones are sexy and funny. Even with too many ridiculous fights, this is a lot of fun.
