The Legend of Zorro passes corny right by and goes for silly, and stupid, and boring.

The Legend of Zorro commits a lot of movie sins, but one is mortal: It turns the magnificent Elena into a nag.

The production is suffused by an almost desperate attempt to recapture the mood of its predecessor, but the tone is forced rather than natural, and the resultant production is bloated, contrived, and not very entertaining.

What happened to the fluidity and snap of the earlier film?

So terrible that I must speak out to defend my own honor. Be assured, mis amigos, I am no fancypants dullard as depicted by seņor Antonio Banderas.

Campbell's film has moments that capture this sensuality and stealth, but it's noisier and longer than it should be.

What have they done to the Zorro movie series? It's turned into Spy Kids!

In every imaginable way, this is a lesser film than the original.

The Legend of Zorro is so stodgy and slow, it makes even an out-of-control steam engine seem like nothing more than a lot of hot air.

The ludicrous plot and special effects featuring cartoon physics means this zero is strictly for those under the age of eight or so.

I would have dumped the cute kid and the priest and brought back sexy Zorro and his gorgeous volatile wife. Instead, Banderas and Zeta-Jones morph into Republican parents.

Proudly flourishing the Z that stands for zonked, The Legend of Zero -- er, Zorro - - is dumb like a lox.

An entirely forgettable action film. There is nothing new about it, the action feels similar to a Universal stunt show and you've forgotten it before the exit.

In what should've been Antonio Banderas's finest hour as the Mexican superhero, he is instead swallowed up by a second film that doesn't know what to do with him.

Catherine Zeta Jones' eminent allure and Antonio Banderas' leading man charm are reduced to mere furnishings for an ostensibly child-friendly adventure movie filled with tedious stunt sequences, endless sword fights and too many brutal murders.

A movie so stupid and so boring at the same time that it stops just short of causing Zorro creator Johnston McCulley to roll over in his grave.
