Leonard Cohen: Live in London (2009)

Movie Info

Awash in bluish light and sporting a fedora, Leonard Cohen seduces London's O2 arena so fully and deftly that it's impossible to believe the show marks his emergence from a 15-year touring hiatus. While this 2008 concert finds Cohen playing decades of his own qualified classics, this is no mere trip to the museum: legendary songs such as "Suzanne" and "Hallelujah" sear and smolder with whole new realms of depth and maturity.

A very impressive concert displaying Leonard Cohen's melancholy songs and his Zen courtesy to his musicians.

Audience Reviews for Leonard Cohen: Live in London

Leonard, pushing 80, comes off like the Dali Lama here, the sprightly elder full of wisdom. I was hard pressed to think of a favorite that was missed in this set. The arrangements of the songs complement Leonard's vocals. I've heard him live in the past and it didn't come off as well. It's hard to imagine this appealing to non Leonard Cohen fans. If you enjoy singer songwriters like Dylan or Lou Reed, you should check out Leonard Cohen's work.

Leonard Cohen certainly knows how to charm an audience and he does exactly that with this concert live in London. Building an instant rapour with the audience, his hugely talented band make this a pretty outstanding event. Young or Old, if you appreciate the sound of live, talented performers who are true musicians, give this dvd a play.
