Critic Reviews for Lesson of the Evil (Aku no kyôten)

All Critics (3)

Lesson of the Evil at least operates under a guise of exploitation - all of which is welcomingly daft.

The Film Stage

a crazy adult cartoon, marked in equal parts by genuine tabu-busting horror, sheer excess, & an unnerving sense of fun - but the fact that Hasumi honed his cutthroat skills on a business degree... lends his psychopathic behaviour a political edge.

A hard drink to swallow, but it's a vicious horror film with Miike's resonant visual punch.

Audience Reviews for Lesson of the Evil (Aku no kyôten)

A sociopathic teacher uses extreme method to stop the "corruption" in the high school, when his plan went wrong, a night of massacre would be his only solution. The acting was simply dreadful, the story was ridiculous, even the standard of Japanese gore flicks was lost. It was really just violent for the sake of being violent.

2/5 I didn't even know this was a Miike film when I watched it...weird. It doesn't work, but it was interesting enough for one viewing.

This flick tries to moniterize the issue of mass killing. Unfortunately, it's neither a visual treat nor an effective storytelling. Wonder if I'll go for the sequel.
