This Spanish language film Hadi some great points and some not so great points. Most impressively it gave some insight into a historical events I had never learned of in school, the Spanish Civil War. It showed up folks got.caught up in with Anarchists and republicans. Also showed how statist communists were able to take over the anarcho-syndaclist movement and shortly after lead to their defeat by the government statist Republican Army. three were a couple of scenes that were internally unnecessarily graphic in terms of death and destruction and blood. there were also unnecessary sex scenes. While both sex and death were needed for the story the point could have been made and prolonged the plot without the gorey details. all in all recommend for history buffs, not for children or the squeamish, nor those who don't like subtitles as the DVD did not have an English language audio track.

A Spanish film about the Anarchist Revolution in Spain during the 1930's. A dramatic portrayal of the uprising following Maria who is caught between the church and the revolutionaries she meets. It drags slowly but the story is great.

We are gradually seeing the creation of a great collection of films about the Spanish civil war particularly from Guillermo del Torro. Unfortunately this is clearly a grade below del Torro's offerings.

The version I saw had laggy subtitles, but it's a very good movie.

his movie tells the story of the last battle that has been fought with hopes of forming a Utopian society... a libertarian communist society based on anarchy. Everyone is equal...

Truly revolutionary, empowering, and ends in tragedy but what a hell of a film. Loved it

Great story about the women behind the Spanish Civil War. Great perfomances by Victoria Abril and Miguel Bose.

This could have been phenomenal, yet it's a sad near-miss

sad story, great drama, and reasonable historical accuracy of what happened in Barcelona between 1936 - 1939

Es una peli'cula que narra lo cruel que fue la derrota, gracias al estalinismo y el anarquismo.

One of my favorite movies, a must see.

One of the few sympathetic and relatively accurate film portrayals of anarchism and the Spanish Civil War. It focuses on the military side of the Revolution a little too much, although this is understandable, and its portrayal of Durruti is somewhat questionable. There could also be some racist undertones towards the end. Nevertheless, well worth seeing, especially if you're not already an anarchist.

Buena pelicula de la guerra civil espa˝ola. Si solo le hubieran hecho caso a los comunistas no se los hubiera clavado franco
