A bothersome zombie flick that I just can't shake off.

While it has a great concept, 'Little Monsters' is lacking in humour, heart and effort

There are, in truth, some funny moments. But sitting through the whole movie is too high a price to pay.

It's very funny at times, but somehow doesn't quite justify a trip to the cinema.

The problem with the film for me is... beyond that joke, about yeah the attack is happening in a petting zoo, there really isn't that much to entertain.

[A] laugh-free Australian effort that plays like a cross between Shaun of the Dead and Kindergarten Cop.

Miss Caroline makes for a kickass heroine & really ought to be the protagonist. Sadly, this is all about Dave, with the other characters, not to mention the armies of walking dead, feeling like mere foils to our main man's arc from kidult to carer.

Even if it shambles like the creatures it poses as a threat to all of humanity, Little Monsters has some comedy moments that really work, while leaving the horror components to languish as easy prey for the undead.

Little Monsters is mostly a mediocre horror comedy, an okay-ish latent rom-com, and a GREAT music video for Lupita Nyong'o covering Taylor Swift.

An amateurish effort headlined by one of the most annoying characters of 2019. The zom-com genre, its fans, and Lupita Nyong'o deserve much better. [Full review in Spanish]

[T]he film has some great moments, mostly centered on Miss Caroline kicking ass and the kids being kids. But there's too much emphasis on shock value humor... and there isn't quite enough poking fun at the genre to make it a savvy send up.

Forsythe nails a handful of funny juxtapositions, but too often leans into mean-spirited and tired yuks.
October 10, 2019
The charismatic Nyong'o is easily the best part of this feeble Australian horror comedy...
October 8, 2019
It's a film teeming with opportunities that were squandered under falsely edgy and unfunny jokes.
October 8, 2019
Its self-amusement is far more obvious than it is infectious.
October 7, 2019
Never thought this disposable comedy would see the light of day outside of the SXSW film festival; the comedy is lackluster and the characters are awfully hollow.
October 6, 2019
Despite N'yongo's winning performance, Forsythe's Little Monsters is fun - but that's it; while there is some comedy, there are not enough zombies.
October 4, 2019
What should be a midnight movie style crowdpleaser becomes one of the most insufferable big screen comedies in quite some time.
October 4, 2019
The film might benefit from having Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong'o in the lead role, but aside from her presence and total dedication, Forsythe's script lacks creativity.
