Funny, humorous comedy indian-american stereotypes that compete over a Bollywood Idol in a hilarious way.
A less than humorous cultural comedy with mediocre acting.
good acting and casting but more of the same. No new takeouts from the movie
Moments of very-funny interspersed between others that are not-so-much. Overall, a decent watch.
After so long i watched a random desi flick and to say the least i was very much impressed by director Manish Acharya's debut movie."Loins of Punjab presents" is all abt a desi idol singing contest in New Jersey and the story of various participants in it..and some of them are damn hilarious...Honestly speaking i never ever heard the name of some of these actors bfore but after watching the movie i was really impressed by some of them like ajay naidu, seema rahmani.
In terms of acting Shabana Azmi is well.."Shabana Azmi"..a wonderful actress..can do a role of a dominant, power crazed socialite so effortlessly..Ajay Naidu as a bhangra rappper is too good..he is the one to watch out for.. and taking various brilliant actors from theater and even by acting himself..Manish Acharya has done a wonderful job...
Its funny and u relate to it..even i m not an Indian-American...but still do watch it if u r looking for a change...3.5 from me..
this one will go down as one in my list of the much better desi-American movies... brilliant work by the director (may he RIP) and the actors...
Funny, humorous, comedy, new wave movie about singing contest in USA.Good time film which will leave a smile on your face. Watch on DVD. Avoid children watching it
nice little fun movie. good performances from a strong cast
The first ten minutes are total joke, a hilarious skewering of both sides of the Desi-US divide. The film falls off into standard story after that. The film could have offered more consistent hammering humor, and powerfully lyrical relationship, musical and dance scenes, but loss of directorial and writing focus killed the possibilities. Filmed entirely indoors, in muddy tones, with flat angles and little texture or depth, the visuals aren't enough to take the movie to another level.
There was a lot of potential here. If the direction and writing had been better focused, if the cinematography had been able to escape its low-budget box, this would have been a great film. I kept hoping it would come back and hit the highs of its first ten minutes, but it never did. Even so, for the fun of seeing the villainness lose, for the pure enjoyment of the beautiful voices and songs, and for keeping a viewer's hope for more constantly whetted, this movie is worth a watch.
hilarious to the core, love the script and the performances.
