Hammy, campy and oh so dated - yet enjoyable, humorous cream puff from 1930. All the tropes - young attractive heiress, penniless handsome suitor, dowdy old aunts who are loosened up by the devil of drink and various other cartoonish characters - but it all comes together in less than 70 minutes. Young is charming, Fairbanks fabulous to look at, but the show is stolen by the two male escorts - Nugent and Selby (who today, come off as so gay, though may not have been intended at the time) - and the two spinster aunts - Wales and Fazenda - in their over the top performances. Worth a gander, as they would say in the 1930's.
