Movie Info

A local bar in Las Vegas is a bar for gambling, LOSING GROUND is the story of one such place. Seven people come in, interact, strike up friendships of convenience, win, lose, and go home.Bryan Wizemann's haunting and elegiac feature film debut is a contemporary portrait of ritual and superstition, intimacy and estrangement. In direct contrast with the current zeitgeist of a Las Vegas myth, LOSING GROUND is a personal and closely observed work on the addictions of human nature and the self-created purgatories that often define a life. This film also attempts a new kind of realism, one of patience and observation that is confined to a single location over a single night.-- © Official Site

The film, with its muted but potently charged minimalism, has much to convey about how economic and emotional uncertainties of a greed culture steeped in narcissistic myth and fantasy, cripple people's lives emotionally.

Losing Ground has all the hallmarks of a low-budget first feature, including painful earnestness, shaky acting and strident moralizing.
