Man...religion is so weird. Beautiful movie though.

Beautiful acting, but at its core nihilistic and empty, did not find it spiritual at all but had a low key misanthropy... very disappointed.

It just dragged on and didn't engage me whatsoever despite the fact that my love was in it, Lea Seydoux....but hell, she was barely in it!

I can't recall ever being disappointed by Sylvie Testud. She is akin to a younger generation Isabelle Huppert in that she is happy to work in areas about as far from the Multiplex circuit as you can get.
Here she is again, acting largely with her eyes as a wheelchair confined invalid going along for the ride on a pilgrimage to Lourdes, by which I mean that it is a pilgrimage only for the group she is with, as 1) a sceptic and 2) bored and lonely because of her condition, she has more or less tagged along for lack of an alternative. There's a nice mix of satire and sentiment at work here as we note the commercial aspects of organised religion and the negative aspects of human nature masquerading as piety. Testud as always is superb and the film should be seen for her alone if nothing else.

A beautifully subtle lead performance from Sylvie Testud truly gifts this unusual and enigmatic film that can be read a multitude of ways (undoubtedly depending on the viewers own spirituality and/or religious beliefs), even to the point where it becomes unclassifiable (drama, black comedy, satire).

Excellent, moving film.

It is a small and moderate, but very interesting human drama. Was it a miracle by God or not ? they relegate the judgment to us.

Although the slow pace can be off-putting, there's a deeper investigation about miracles in this open-minded film. Both reverent and skeptical, the story deals with both the commercialization of a holy site and the consequences of what could be a miracle.

Heart warming and insightful but ultimately a let down with no pay off.

A woman in her 20's gets quadriplegia by MS and goes to Lourdes on a healing tour. The movie is very subtle and thought provoking from start to finish.

A remarkable performance from Testud carries this quiet, observant film. Director Hausner dwells in the realm of mystery, neither confirming nor denying the reality of the miraculous, and as such shows us how a place the faithful associate with hope can also become a place of profound uncertainty. Such uncertainty is disorienting, while the faith required to embrace the miraculous is shown to be quite the high calling indeed. Excellent film that provides much to think about.

Commands a style of its own depicting what feels like an unusual clique and fusion of the church with the sick and needy. Whilst it does feel llke a critique of the supposed miracle waters of Lourdes, it is a also a statement about the psychology of ill-health.

Most movies that feature my faith in a prominent way either tend toward horror ("The Exorcist"), sensationalism ("The DaVinci Code") or grimness ("Doubt"). And while I enjoyed all those movies, a movie like "Lourdes," which features a particular aspect of Catholicism yet treats the faith with affection and realism, is always a refreshing change. It's no more a "Catholic" movie than "The Exorcist," et al, and it deals with issues that people of all faiths (or no faith) can relate to, in particular, what it means to be healed.

Sl√∂tt.

thought this was a doc but its not a story of some pilgrims going to and visiting lordes looking 4 miracles-one finds one.

Lourdes is a multifaceted film that questions and plays deftly with irony in examining faith--and the lack thereof. Director Jessica Hausner has produced a credible script and her skilled eye transforms the script into a mesmerizing film. Silvie Testud as Christine and Gilette Barbier as Mme Hartl are superb actresses who understand the power of subtlety in playing dramatic roles.

Saldo altamente positivo.

The central performance of "Lourdes" is exceptional. The film is profound and provoking, but certainly not for everyone's taste.
