Audience Reviews for Love Is News

Capra's It Happened One Night might've got the everyman reporter chasing the rich heiress trope going but it was by no means a done deal. In this version Tyrone Power is the reporter, Loretta Young the Kardashian. It's kind've a fun romp too.

How would you like to be mobbed by peeping toms? A crafty newspaper reporter uses some slick maneuvers to get a story on a rich heiress. She turns the tables on the reporter when she announcers their engagement. How will the reporter handle the strange announcement and what is really behind the heiress' claim? "Where are you going?" "I'm going to eat crow." "It will do you good." Tay Garnett, director of The Postman Always Rings Twice, Bataan, Four Star Playhouse, One Way Passage, The Delta Factor, and Eternally Yours, delivers Love is News. The storyline for this picture is fun in a Roman Holiday kind of way. The script is pretty good and the characters are well delivered. The cast delivers solid performances and includes Tyrone Power, Loretta Young, Don Ameche, and Jane Darwell. "Maybe I'll take you off the front page and put you in the comics section where you belong." I DVR'd this picture off Turner Classic Movies (TCM) during a Tyrone Power marathon. I found this movie very entertaining and "fun." This wasn't one of Power's better films, but it was surely entertaining. I recommend seeing this film once but wouldn't add it to my classic film DVD collection. "I'd like to stick it in your eye." Grade: B-

Although it's predictable and silly, I enjoyed this movie. It has some really funny scenes and good actors.
