Mabel is a low-budget drama about a young girl who moves to a new place and becomes deeply interested in botany, trying to build her own world through plants and observation. On paper, it’s an interesting concept about isolation, creativity, and self-expression, especially with a character who feels different from everyone around her. Unfortunately, the execution never fully develops that idea. Instead of exploring her passion for plants in a meaningful or visually engaging way, the film stays surface-level and never really builds momentum or emotional depth. The low budget is noticeable throughout, and while there is a recognizable actress in the cast, the overall performances feel uneven. Some acting choices come across as rough, which makes it harder to stay invested Tonally, the movie leans into slow pacing, but without enough narrative progression to support it. Rather than feeling atmospheric, it often feels stagnant and repetitive, with very little to keep the viewer engaged
