A spirited but fragmented comedy about the gulf between privilege and poverty, dreams and reality.

Rings with life, color and laughter without either insulting or falsely glorifying the servant's life.

Disappointingly, while Domésticas uses humor to touch on some of these disheartening issues, it fails to make a compelling statement that truly empathizes with the Brazilian housemaid's cause.

Meirelles does a good job of transferring it to the screen and manages to create a slice of life that is both amusing and moving.

Audience Reviews for Domésticas

I think that you must be Brazilian to understand this movie. Otherwise, it will be very difficult to grasp the meaning of being a made... despite the fact that most of people absolutely don't care about them!
