It's a lazy-looking movie, amiable and smart, but so fuzzy, in its imagery and structure, that it suggests the sun is getting to everybody, that they all need a dip in the pool.

The movie is certainly original. No other film has ever flirted with so many formulas and genres and failed so completely to (a) parody their conventions or (b) execute them with some degree of skill or design.
