Marcello Mastroianni: I Remember Photos

Movie Info

With abundant quantities of charm, wit and thoughtful introspection, Mastroianni looks back and digs deeply into his life and his work. Shattering the loathed stereotype of the melancholy, irresistible Latin lover, he brings vivacity, intelligence and modesty to this delightful memoir, gently guided by director Anna Maria Tato, his companion for the last 22 years. Humorous and affectionate anecdotes of Garbo, Visconti, Ferreri and Fellini are enhanced by childhood memories, enthusiasms for Duke Ellington and Hollywood films and by screen tests and rarely seen film clips.

Audience Reviews for Marcello Mastroianni: I Remember

A nice chat with Marcello Mastroianni about his life in film and particularly about his life as a seemingly perpetual actor in Fellini films. Think of it as a conversation over tea with a long lost relative.

"Just shadows on a screen," but what memorable and lovely shadows Mastroianni has left on film! Marcello is an engaging and charming story teller. This portrait is friendly and conversational ~ you feel intimate, almost as if you were his confidante. While this film is not intellectual or philosophical, his anecdotes are revealing and insightful. Dubbed the Latin lover, it's fun viewing the many roles he played to dispel this typecast: aged beyond his actual years, an impotent man, a homosexual, a pregnant man, etc. This is a man that loved life and realized his mortal existence was soon coming to an end. Delightful!!
