Clumpy, gore-laden, inglorious fun that's a structural sham, but gets by on frights and freaky demon monsters! MTDTY provides cracking comedy amongst the gunk, but the clumsy script, gawky dialogue and strained duration are hard to disregard.

May The Devil Take You might not rewrite the Necronomicon, but Tjahjanto's brand of possession thriller takes a life of its own through heavy-handed occult violence mixed with stellar performances and pulsating eyes peering between floorboards.

In the Evil Dead-style scenario that follows, Tjahjanto deftly flings all manner of witchcraft, voodoo and splatter just to see what will stick. The subtext may be shallow, but the blood runs deep, ensuring the viewer one hell of a crazy night.
