What to Know

Critics Consensus

Constricting its two stars inside an airless presentation of a clunky techno-thriller premise, Mercy is tedious enough to make you cry uncle.

Audience Says

Best seen in 3D, Mercy is a Pratt-tastic, high-concept whodunit for anyone who enjoys an edge-of-your seat, popcorn-fueled experience.

A can’t-miss event for the subset of viewers fascinated by the screenlife format. For those who aren’t part of that group, Mercy will either be a solid, by-the-numbers program...or a migraine-provoking nightmare. Go to Full Review

Fans expecting Chris Pratt to do his superhero thing will be disappointed. He’s in time-out. Strapped to his seat. Go to Full Review

It has aspirations to be RoboCop but this feels more like autopilot. Pratt is committed and the plotting is sometimes effective, but Rebecca Ferguson’s non-Dredd-ful judge is the only good reason to watch it. Go to Full Review

Great premise that's executed about as well as the AI judge does its job. You're not Hannah Montana, 'Everyone makes mistakes' should not be the moral takeaway in this situation. Go to Full Review

Mercy is best viewed as a taut, competent quickie rather than an insightful treatise on the dangers of AI. On those terms, it mostly hits the right notes. Go to Full Review

Timothy M 1d Really enjoyed the whole movie, very interesting and intriguing. See more Jacqueline 5d Wow -this is the futuristic look at the power of AI! Fun and gripping ride! See more Nona Feb 21 very good suspense, good ending, very good acting. keeps you guessing... See more Avery Feb 20 its too short. its very cheesy bad graphics and bad acting!! See more Kellie P Feb 19 A very realistic scenario of where we are headed as a society with the usage of AI in facets of life where they do not belong. The domino effects of what can happen with the levels of impact that they are giving in AI are extreme, and that was well displayed via this film. All of the actors were on point. Loved it! See more Jeremy R. Feb 17 That this idea of AI judge, jury and execution is a bad idea and the movie proves it...AI is not perfect as human beings are not perfect. Giving a program that much power over our decisions, could bite us in the butt later. There's absolutely no empathy from machines or programs. See more Read all reviews
