Being something of a mark for most things Matthew Lillard, I had run across this on cable scheduling and recorded it ages ago, so I finally sat down with it and gave it a look this afternoon. The upshot is that Lillard is a screenwriting teacher who is forced to play out the plot from one of his screenplays, which was apparently something he stole from a student, and it's all just a bit too corny and dumb, even with an actor that I kinda like as the lead.

Rental at best, but mostly a pass on this turkey.

For a script about scriptwriting, they certainly made a generic script, cliches, predictable ending with terrible dialogue.

I was pleasantly surprised by this film. It kept me intrigued throughout, trying to guess the killer (I was wrong in the end too). Twists and turns with a small but good cast, along the way make a good story better

The script and idea of this film should have been deleted then nobody would have to suffer at this abomination of a movie

Horrible story line. Lillard is spectacular.

it wasn't bad -- incredibly predictable, but not bad.

It has one of those endings that will leave you feeling utterly confused.

predictable knew who the killer was less than half way into the movie.

good movie.. keeping the tension till the end.

This is amazing. Mocks clichés and then becomes them (intentionally and
wittily) and eventually points out clichés are fairly accurate. The
acting was great, the characters (except maybe one) very very
believable and the plot fantastic

And at the end... you're still left uncertain what actually happened

Not good. Tries to be a comedy, horror, action, and suspense film...and succeeds at none. The voice over work on the telephone calls was way sub-par. Silly like Phone Booth, without the redeeming skill of Colin Farrell.

it was an okay movie but sick twist to the end

Very interesting, but not the least bit original, plot has been done multiple times before but this movie was very, and I mean very well written

A rather uninspired thriller, Messages Deleted is a wanna-be meta-horror film, but it is just not ever original or smart enough to pull it off. While it is entertaining throughout, you won't remember it long afterwards except as a movie you saw with that guy from Scream in it.

cliched all the way but its ironic to see Matthew lliard in another film bout film making with a serial killer

Hate open ended movies.
June 27, 2012
Predictable, bad story, just awful

The film was a good to honest right. Down the middle it is just about screenwriting, it is a good movie for the group if you got nothing else going on, seriously though you guys should really check it out, it's on Netflix?

Available on Netflix so watched. Nothing special.
