Movie Info

Every legend has a beginning. Come Fly With Me is the story of Michael Jordan's. Though now his name is linked to greatness, in his youth Jordan struggled like so many athletes, even getting cut from his high school team. The 50-minute tape explores Jordan's roots in North Carolina and subsequent drafting into the NBA. The story is told through interviews with those that knew Jordan best -- his coaches and friends. Come Fly With Me was made before Jordan's run of championship wins with the Chicago Bulls. Still, the graceful player's destiny is apparent in the early game footage. Despite Jordan's sterling reputation, the shining moments of this video are the action segments. From slam-dunk contests to college clips, Come Fly With Me recalls a younger Jordan, hungry and eager to please, and provides a captivating addition to the sports fan's collection. ~ Sarah Ing, Rovi

Audience Reviews for Michael Jordan: Come Fly with Me

This was definitely the best of all of the Michael Jordan video series. Come Fly With Me best showcased the borderline obsession to win that made Michael Jordan the greatest athlete of my time. It makes sense to me now more than 20 years after I first saw him play how driven Jordan was to erase previous failures, such as not making his high school team as a sophomore, not being the go-to guy from the start at the University of North Carolina, to even not being the top overall pick in the 1984 NBA Draft. This incarnation of Jordan will always remain my favorite, the one who was high flying and dunking on 7 foot centers on a regular basis and earning a hard-fought Finals victory against the Lakers in 1991, two years after the release of Come Fly With Me. Great sports documentary, a must own for all Jordan fans.

If you are an NBA fan at all and find yourself listening to people trying to make an argument for some up and coming young player who is better than Michael Jordan- pop this DVD in and take notes on why they are wrong. Some of the things that Jordan does on this video are unbelievable. It is the classic highlight reel of the young Jordan (all pre-championship days) just dominating anyone who steps in his path- literally jumping over people and dunking on people like they disrespected his mother. The best part is that b/c this collection is from his fourth year, they don't have to cover as much time and can basically just show all of his amazing stuff from 86-87 when he averaged 37.1 pts/game along with a handful of steals and blocks. Once you have seen this movie you will remember why Jordan was so good, even before he went on to get 6 championships. Then you can tell all of those fools who think that Jordan was never good b/c he isn't as good right now as he used to be that they just need to refresh their memories a bit. Its just that simple. Great video, and a lot of fun to watch. Air Jordan wearing sweet shoes to boot.

I have a few Michael Jordan videos and "Come Fly With Me" is definitely my favorite. Just about the whole video is full of awesome highlights. "Come Fly With Me" starts out by telling of how Jordan grew up playing basketball and baseball, then it gets to the good stuff. It shows footage from some of his college games all the way to the 1988 All-Star Game and Slam Dunk Contest. It tells about his injury at the beginning of the 1986 season and how he rebounded from it and became an even better player. You'll also hear a lot of insight from Michael's parents and even see some highlights of him playing golf in the offseason. If you're a Michael Jordan fan and you like seeing a lot of highlights that only Jordan himself could make, then you need to get "Come Fly With Me." It probably has more dunking and other gravity-defying highlights on it than any other Michael Jordan video out there. NOTE: That was my Amazon review from the year 2000. I have Michael Jordan: The Ultimate Collection and this is one of 3 videos that came with it and it is my favorite of the 3.
