Krzysztof Krauze's droll, unassuming little biopic stands as a fitting memorial to a life on the fringes.

An enjoyable and gently involving portrayal of a fascinating talent. It isn't the most sophisticated biopic around but that's quite fitting for a subject who took such pride in his own naivety.

My Nikifor doesn't take a scenic tour of artistry through the Vaseline smeared lens of romanticism, but for those unfamiliar with Poland's national treasures, it may be a struggle through cold waters.

[A] film where the protagonist would have left after five minutes if they showed him this work about his life; the less grumpy and more patient viewer will likely remain seated until the understated end.
