Movie Info

This tragic romantic drama finds a 34 year old teacher falling in love with a 17 year old student. Daniele (Annie Girardot) becomes interested first scholastically, then romantically with Christian (Bruno Pradal). At first his parents are pleased, then suspicious and finally outraged when a love affair blossoms. The concerned parents go to court for a hearing that separates the duo because of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Sent to another school, Christian runs off to be with the teacher. The police find the couple and he is returned to the institution. When Christian runs away again, Daniele refuses to tell the authorities of his whereabouts and is arrested. This time Christian is put in a mental hospital and subjected to sedatives. When he breaks out again, Daniele is jailed once more. Her trial results in a year's suspended sentence. Christian's parents go to court once again to appeal the decision as Daniele is driven closer to the edge of suicide. The story is based on an actual incident that was altered just enough to avoid legal wrangling.
