Glenn Ford is alright as a war vet returning to find his nightclub co-opted by the Mob in this noir light sandwich. Evelyn Keyes is too pretty as the head social worker at the mission he hides out in when that same Mob comes looking for him. Fast and smart dialogue very nearly covers up that overall it's a skimpy story, leaving the same dissatisfied feeling of like trying to sleep under a short blanket.

It's easy to like Mr. Soft Touch because of Evelyn Keyes and Glenn Ford. The story, though, is hard to fall for.
