12/28/2010 So I watched this (for reasons that I'll leave ambiguous) and I have to say that it wasn't that bad. While I refuse to see Hollywood productions like "Brokeback Mountain" or the "Twilight" saga, this was actually a decent production of male/male romance. I can honestly say that "I get" why there's a female fan base for gay-male relationships in entertainment. The motifs present in these types of stories take sexual-tension and forbidden love to the next level, which almost undoubtedly appeals to fat/ugly women who engage in very few relationships (if any). Clearly, the loneliness and insecurity of the Bridget Jones syndrome has expanded far beyond the borders of heterosexuality and into a realm that "modern" girls can only relate to via taboo homosexuality. Nevertheless, this flick is an entertainment medium, and should be judged as such (despite my red-blooded bias). I can't say I didn't enjoy this piece, but I am disappointed that such proclivities for this genre exist within the demographics of our societies' young, inexperienced females.
