An intriguing cat and mouse war plot, although it is so far removed from the central theatres of war it never feels like a WWII story. O'Toole's character comes off more strange than convincing, but it all adds up to something a little different in the genre.

Movie now showing its age...You'd never guess you were in Venezuela and the stereotypes were laid on a bit thick...otherwise, if you're a fan of Peter o'Toole, it is worth a look see

Unique story. Good acting by O'Toole. About an Enlishman consumed by revenge who goes after a German U-Boat. Things don't go well for either of them.

One of the first war films that I remember seeing and still one of my favourites. The only negative is the annoying drone of the aircraft engine which pervades through half of the movie. O'Toole is brilliant as the survivor hell bent on revenge.
For once an accurate Facebook synopsis (although it was copied verbatim from the back of the DVD box)!
