Peter K @Vacadoug Dec 7 This was an excellent representation of how well a "culture-clash’ romance story can be told: for that alone, ‘My Partner’ earns top marks. It is beautifully filmed on one of Hawaii’s smaller islands; Lahaina, with views that mimic the contrasts within its excellent screenplay. The flawless acting by Kailua Deduct and Jayron Munoz is first-class as is the sound-track. Yes, it is a love story: of friends, family and food, The romantic development between the two leads is authentic, believable, and handled with TLC. Kudos to the entire cast and crew for this top-notch production. See more SkyRo P @TheMovieSearch Jun 2 My Partner was a film that left me feeling both perplexed and intrigued. It was captivating to observe the interactions between two individuals from such different backgrounds. However, it seemed to lack a true sense of direction and didn’t delve deeply into their emotional journeys. The film felt more like an artificial awakening, and I primarily watched it because of Kaipo Dudoit, who portrayed David in Lilo & Stitch. I find him to be a talented actor; he brought a lot of creativity and humor to his role in Lilo & Stitch, and he managed to hold his own in this movie as well. Unfortunately, the rest of the cast didn’t quite measure up, which detracted from the film's overall quality. The only other performer who stood out was the mother, although I can’t recall her name. In summary, the film is just passable. I wouldn’t recommend it if you have other options available, but if you find yourself with nothing to watch and feeling bored, you might give it a try. But otherwise it's sooooo cute and refreshingly zero homophobic drama storyline This is the first "Boys-Love" or BL, film from Hawaii . Good job!! See more Rocky C 10/17/2024 My Partner is a beautiful film that has talented actors (standout actor being up-comer Karpov Dudoit) who show the struggles of the people living in Maui. Especially between the Philippine and Hawaiian people both feeling as strong sense of pride in their culture. Probably the last film made before the Lahaina fire. Beautiful cinematography and the soundtrack of music is Hawaiian style at its best. Highly recommend watching My Partner. See more Read all reviews
