Critic Reviews for Napoleon and Me (N Io e Napoleone)
Pleasant but ultimately slight costumer is generating good local press, though non-Italo auds will lose much of the heavily accented wordplay.
May well be the best zany Napoleonic-era romantic comedy costume drama ever.
Audience Reviews for Napoleon and Me (N Io e Napoleone)
This amusing tale of a young poet, Martino, who dreams of assasinating Napoleon during his exile on Elba is an enjoyable Italian film with good production values. Daniel Auteuil, one of my favorite French actors, gives a good performance as the pathetic Napoleon in his declining years. Elio Germano who plays the poet is also good, but the actresses Sabrina Impacciatore, who plays his loud sister, and Francesca Inaudi, who plays the love-sick maid, have some of the better comical scenes. Monica Bellucci, as the poet's lover Baroness Emilia, looks lovely as usual, but her role is pretty limited in this movie.
