It's hard to satirize a satire. That's what "National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1" wants to do, but the target proves elusive. This is a would-be comedy that's not as funny (nor as satirical) as the movies that inspired it.

More an imitation than a parody, this would-be comedy is very short on laughs and gives away virtually all of them in its coming-attractions trailer.

Here's a film that's more than a little pleased with itself. But the audience is not likely to feel the same amount of pleasure.

Watching "Loaded Weapon 1" is like playing Trivial Pursuit with experts. It's exhausting.
