Dr. Michael Parker (Rock Hudson), living in California with his daughter, Suzy (Shelley Fabares), is visiting New York when he runs into his former wife, Lisa (Cornell Borchers), who had been presumed dead. Upon seeing him, she runs out into the street in shock, where she's struck by a car. After major surgery, Lisa recovers, and Parker recalls their marriage in postwar Vienna and his fit of jealousy that led to their estrangement. At her hospital bed, he pleads with her to take him back.
