It migh be dense to some people just to watch a lecture from Noam Chomsky... but consider that the man is not really a rock star.

I have about half a dozen Noam Chomsky DVDs--they are all extremely good and nothing could be more important than the topic of peace and our inability to find it. This man is like an idiot savant when it comes to world conflict from the beginning of mankind. He can quote years, facts and figures regarding every battle or war easier than I can recite my address. He understands the history of it and the lessons we should all take from our past. Educating his viewers about our place in world events is his talent. I would say he does so with much less emotion than some others that discuss this topic publicly, but his intellect allows for little in the way of patience. From what I can tell he wonders why people allow their leaders to drag them into some of the politically motivated messes that exist around the globe. I find him riveting as a speaker, and I believe he is unsurpassed in his understanding of this very broad topic.

chomsky provides the most legitimate analysis of the "war on terror" that I've ever seen anywhere. even when one takes into consideration the fact that the lecture was filmed months prior to the invasion of Iraq, the film's relevance to the current state of world affairs is unfortunately quite accurate. All of his key points are meticulously supported by factual evidence, so I'd consider it an ideal film to show skeptics. beware his trademark monotone, however... you might need a bit of coffee to get through it. and you better be damn sure that's zapatista coffee...
