Movie Info

A timid man finds a new lease on life by portraying someone else in this comedy-drama from Uruguay. Norberto (Fernando Amaral) is let go from his job working for an airline and takes a new assignment as a real estate salesman. But Norberto is naturally shy and doesn't have the nerve to close the deal. His boss recommends that he take a class in building self-confidence, but Norberto decides to try something just a bit different -- he joins an amateur acting troupe who is staging a production of +The Seagull. To his surprise, Norberto's discovers he loves acting and throws himself into rehearsals head first. However, his enthusiasm doesn't help much with his job, as he still has trouble selling properties, and Norberto is so busy preparing for his big night on stage that his wife decides to leave him. Norberto Apenas Tarde (aka Norberto's Deadline) was the first directorial assignment from noted actor Daniel Hendler.

Audience Reviews for Norberto's Deadline (norberto Apenas Tarde)

The dark humor in this film I found to be reminiscent of that of Alexander Payne, who specializes in shlubbish antiheroes. Unlike a Payne film, however, which often follows the trajectory of âman whose life sucks in every possible way manages to somehow suck even moreâ? (and I say that with a great history of Payne-love), I found Norbertoâ(TM)s plight to be a little more nuanced. Full review here:
