When New Englander Frank (Tom Cavanagh) dies unexpectedly, his sister, Roberta (Diane Keaton), and his friend Ben (Maury Chaykin) travel to his adopted hometown for the funeral. Roberta and Ben are surprised to learn that Frank had a son -- and they're even more baffled by the news that they'll be expected to rearrange their lives and look after 9-year-old Jack (Joseph Cross). This bittersweet comedy finds Ben dithering over his duties, while Roberta demonstrates a knack for parenting.
