Really just an overstuffed story that comes off not as layered but rather as an unfocused jumble.
these former A-listers deserve a better film to ply their trade in than this sloppy thriller-by-numbers
It doesn't quite achieve its plan for a psychological breakdown, but the effort is appreciated, even in a feature as messy as this one.
The film wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. It kind of reminded me of movies like Street Kings and Dark Blue. I didn't like the style or structure of the film. Stephen Dorff did a great job here. James Woods also delivers solid supporting work here.
I thought this would be a hidden gem considering the talent involved but sadly its character focus and complexity aren't up to scratch. The film feels like a modern noir which keeps you invested but sadly the end result is all over the place.
Stephen dorff has always been an interesting actor but he's choice of roles have always been inconsistent. This film doesn't allow him to flex any real acting muscle which is a shame because he is surrounded by some solid actors. James woods steals every scene he is in and gives the film some strength.
Miller has grown as a director but he's film lack script development. The stories have twists but you can't care if the script lacks any direction for its characters.
The film is intriguing but to many flaws to keep it alive. Good for a night in but you may find it hard to keep interested in its simplistic plot. To many support players are ignored
A hard-boiled and riveting police thriller. It`s Dark Blue meets L.A Confidential. It packs more impact than from the barrel of a shotgun. A stylish, intense, multi-layered and character driven film that`s down, deep and fantastic. It`s heart-pounding and wickedly entertaining from start to finish. A solid story that`s packed with action, nail-biting suspense and also scores with a tremendous cast of stars who all deliver great performances, especially Stephen Dorff. Dorff is absolutely sensational, he gives his best performance in years, he shows a great amount of emotion, toughness and raw power. David Boreanaz is terrific. James Woods is excellent. Dominic Purcell is thrilling. Walton Goggins is wonderful. A tough, pistol-packing and engaging, edge of your seat action-packed thriller.
