Movie Info

This documentary is a darkly funny film about the "ex-gay" movement, formed to try to reform practicing homosexuals into heterosexuals. The film is narrated by two founding ex-members of Exodus, a ministry devoted to "curing" gays. Gary and Michael are two ministers who felt the homosexual lifestyle was incompatible with spirituality; however, while working to set others on the straight and narrow path, they fall in love with each other. There are interviews with psychologists and clips from methodology films, which range from humorous to bizarre to frightening. These include beauty makeovers for butch lesbians and manliness-building football games for effeminate gay men. The film is an insightful look at a societal attempt to promote the conformity of its diverse citizenry.

Audience Reviews for One Nation Under God

This documentary is SO worth watching for anyone interested. The insane interviews alone are amazing. Makeovers for lesbians and football for gay men somehow will make them straight? Interesting approach, right?
